Health & Safety Policy

The Robertson Agricultural & Horticultural Show Society Inc. is committed to providing a safe environment for exhibitors, competitors, stallholders, volunteers, and visitors. Our goal is to minimise risks and ensure that everyone participating in the Robertson Show can do so safely and confidently.

This policy outlines the key health and safety requirements under the Work Health & Safety Act 2011 and applies to all persons on the Showground.

1. Electrical Safety Requirements

To comply with the Work Health & Safety Act 2011, any person using electrical equipment on the Showground must ensure:

  • All electrical items (including power leads, devices, tools, and appliances) are fitted with earth leakage circuit breakers.

  • All electrical leads, appliances, and devices have been inspected and tagged by a licensed electrical contractor prior to arriving at the Showground.

  • Electrical leads are not laid across the ground unprotected from the power source.

Non-compliance:

  • Anyone who does not meet the above requirements will not be permitted to exhibit, operate a stall, or compete.

  • The Robertson A&H Society Inc. reserves the right to disconnect any electrical equipment that does not comply.

To avoid issues on show day, exhibitors and stallholders are strongly encouraged to check and update all electrical equipment beforehand. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our event safe.

2. General Safety Expectations

All exhibitors, competitors, and stallholders must:

  • Follow instructions given by Show Society officials and stewards.

  • Keep walkways clear and ensure equipment or displays do not create hazards.

  • Operate machinery, vehicles, or animals in a controlled and safe manner.

  • Immediately report any unsafe behaviour or hazards to a Show official.

We ask all participants to contribute to a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.

3. Accident & Public Risk Insurance

Any accident, incident, or injury occurring during the Show must be reported to the Show Office on the same day it occurs.
Reports must be made within the official show dates for the Robertson Show Society to acknowledge and consider any claim.

Incidents not reported during the show period may not be eligible for consideration.

4. Animal & Livestock Safety

(If you want, I can expand this further.) Basic inclusion:

  • Animals must be supervised at all times.

  • Handlers must follow industry-standard safe practices.

  • All relevant forms (health declarations, waivers) must be completed before entry.

5. Commitment to Continuous Improvement

The Robertson A&H Society Inc. regularly reviews its safety practices and procedures to ensure we meet current legislation and maintain a safe community event for all attendees.
